Now that the weather is getting warmer out we have to start beginning to think about our air conditioning systems.
We need to make sure that our air conditioning systems will run efficiently and reliable throughout the spring and summertime temperatures.
I can remember last spring time when I was turning on my air conditioning unit it was not coming on at all. Some simple checks that I did to ensure that my ac was definitely not working at all was that I made sure that the thermostat was set to cool, and it was. I also tried replacing the batteries in my thermostat and I even checked the circuit breaker box. After doing all of these simple checks I couldn’t figure out why my air conditioning system was not working. Instead of trying to fix the issue myself and tinkering with my air conditioning system and making more of a problem, I decided to call my heating cooling technician. It turns out that there was ice on my air conditioning condenser unit. Because my air conditioning unit is older it was not able to handle the humidity and heat as it once could. My heating and cooling technician turned the air conditioning system off all together and put the fan on. He did this by controlling the air conditioner through the thermostat. My HVAC technician also told me that I should wait a few hours so the unit could start its defrost mode. He said within the next 3 hours once it’s defrosted try turning it back on to see if it will work again. And it did! I was able to have cool air running through my air registers once again!
