How much and what kind of HVAC you need depends on what climate you live in

Living without central heating and air conditioning can range from not a problem to absolutely horrible entirely depending on what climate you live in.

I’ve lived in all sorts of climates, but if there’s one place I would hate to be without heating, it’s the upper midwest of this country.

I have been in much sunnier climates in the past, and I tell you now that I’d rather live in a hot and tropical climate with no air conditioning than up in the mountains without heat! It’s practically a matter of survival to have a good furnace or other such heating unit up there. In some places, there are only a handful of months throughout the year that can be considered “mild” with all other months being chilly at best, or downright freezing at worst. The thing is, the country is beautiful out there so I’m entirely willing to brave the cold, just so long as I have a great furnace system to help me. That is what I enjoy with my excellent gas furnace. I make sure that it is maintenanced quite regularly, as well as cleaned. I’m happy to say that such attention to detail has afforded me excellent heating, even through some of the coldest weather. However, heating units are good for keeping us warm to only a certain extent. When the weather dips below zero, I still find myself needing to rely on warmer clothing and plenty of blankets in addition to my furnace. Still, without it, things would clearly be a lot worse!
