Growing up I lived in a very warm climate that was right on the coast. We didn’t have to worry about cold weather or snow. However, we did have constant heat and humidity. Most of the year we would have the air conditioner blasting cold air throughout the house. We would make sure that the wasn’t a drop of humid air in the house by also having a small dehumidifier in each room. The dehumidifier really help take away the humid are that can sometimes build up in a house and make everything feel stuffy. It is also not good for your appliances to have humid air present in the home, it can lessen the shelf life of most appliances and really take a toll on how they operate. Since we didn’t have to worry about having a heating system installed in our house, my parents made sure that they spent the money they would have on a heating system on making sure our house didn’t have humid air. I really took it for granted when I went over to my friends house and they didn’t have any dehumidifiers and the air in their house felt old and stale. Thankfully my parents cared about our heating and cooling needs and decided to invest their money in a properly working HVAC system that was perfect for the climate we lived in. When I get older, I am going to do just what my parents did and make sure that I am not wasting money on a heating system for my home if we don’t need one. I think it was a really smart thing to do on their part!
