Tough saying goodbye to the old heat pump

I know that I’m not so melancholy over a recent HVAC upgrade because the old heat pump was something special. For sure, the main reason I’m moved by this situation is the fact that so much time has flown by. I can remember when we first bought this house and how excited we were to be homeowners. And the very first thing we did was replace the heating and cooling equipment in our new place. We actually got a steal on this house because the owner just wasn’t willing to do the upgrades that needed to be done. But with those savings, we made sure that we got the sort of HVAC unit we wanted. And that HVAC unit did a great job for almost 30 years. That’s a lot of time to provide the heating and cooling my family needed. So when the HVAC technician came to the door after he completed the heating maintenance last year, it wasn’t with good news. Fortunately, we live in a region where we don’t need much from the heat pump during the winter. But the HVAC professional told me that I would definitely need to be replacing the HVAC unit before the heat and humidity got here. I didn’t dally once I got this news and my wife and I started the process of the HVAC upgrade. And the new HVAC equipment is about to be installed next week. Yet instead of being thrilled, I’m a little sad to see the old heat pump go. I’m sure thankful for all the quality heating and air that old heat pump provided.
