No, I don’t have part ownership in the house and I don’t pay the bills, but it is still my home. I should not need to be subjected to high temperatures when I am home. I asked mom if I couldn’t turn the thermostat down a bit so I could be a bit more comfortable, but she told me that it was still her house and she liked it warmer. I said that if she would consider letting me install a ductless HVAC system into my room, that it would be energy efficient and it would not affect her energy bill very much. When she completely shot me down, I called the HVAC company when she wasn’t home. They came out and checked out my room and told me that it would not take much time to install a ductless mini split HVAC into my bedroom. The mini split would have one small unit under the eaves, directly outside my bedroom. I would have a small unit inside the bedroom, and the heating and air conditioning would be controlled with a remote control. I told them to install the HVAC system since they had one with them. Mom won’t even know until the bill comes in the mail, and she sees the small difference in the energy bill.
