I would be sort of afraid to hear my parents describe myself and others to their friends. I can tell they are often totally stumped at how I’ve turned out thus far. My parents and I are honestly very different and see the world from rather different perspectives. They are honestly achievement and success oriented in a rather traditional sense. My measures of success vary a great deal from theirs. I tend to lean toward the creative where failure is simply a pressing and pricey section of the entire process. They don’t understand why I would like to stay inside with the Heating and Air Conditioning device to paint, write or create in some way. My parents think I should be outside dripping with sweat and being the rough and tumble girl they thought they actually raised. I have to hand it to them though. Over the course of the year, they have backed off quite a bit and do their best to support the moves that I make. I haven’t let them down with terrible grades or getting into awful trouble. But, every one of us just don’t even speak the same language so there really isn’t all that much to share. I came to them with some facts and figures on how much cash a smart thermostat and some automatic blinds would save them.
