The furnace was making a grinding sound

I rarely go into the basement, because both of my knees are bad.

I have a hard time walking up and down the stairs.

When I do go to the basement. My husband usually goes with me. He will hold my hand as I walk up and down the stairs. My husband was visiting his sister last weekend and I heard the furnace making a very strange grinding sound. I opened the door to the basement so I could hear the furnace more clearly. I heard an oddly strange sound and it made me feel worried. I tried to walk down the stairs on my own, but I did not feel very steady. I decided to call my husband on the phone. I told him about the strange grinding sound that was coming from the furnace. He agreed to come home early. A couple of hours later, my husband still had not figured out the problem with the furnace. He was getting very frustrated and decided it was time to call a professional. We have a couple of friends that work in the heating industry. My husband called his friend Jack. Jack came over a couple of hours later and the two of them looked at the furnace Together. Jack deduced the grinding sound was actually coming from the ductwork. I thought the furnace was the source of the noise, but the ductwork was the problem all along. It was a good thing actually, because the ductwork was much cheaper to fix than the cost of a brand new furnace.
