I have a digital thermostat in our home.

I never felt the need to update to a smart thermostat or any of the latest & greatest in Heating, Ventilation, & A/C technology… Well, that was until recently, then one day, when I went to turn on our central heating & cooling system, I looked at the thermostat & it was completely dead! It really worked, but the display had nothing showing! It was a unbelievable thing I knew the temperature settings by the click of the buttons. I was pretty much using a blind digital thermostat you could say! The thing was totally done for. I thought this was our sign to finally get a new thermostat. I really still did not want to go with a smart thermostat, also known as a programmable thermostat… My local heating & cooling system dealer did offer digital thermostats at a lower price than they used to be. And, when I told the heating & cooling specialist that I wanted to just replace our digital thermostat, he looked at myself and others adore I was nuts or something. I explained that with myself and others being middle aged, I didn’t assume the need for the smart technology. Also, because I was not someone who left the cabin very much (I work from home), a smart thermostat would be a complete waste of time & currency, and he understood, & I ended up getting a new regular digital thermostat installed to replace the broken display one.
