Back when I was in high school I was one of the bad kids you could say.
I was always getting in trouble and always getting handed a slip that said I had to report to after school detention.
This was not a big deal for me as it was other kids. First off, I didn’t mind staying after school because most of my friends were in sports and other activities and were never around to hang out. So detention gave me something to do. But the other thing was that in the winter time months of the year I loved having detention because the school’s central heating system was just totally awesome! The central heating in that school really made me want to actually go to school everyday just to enjoy the warmth. We have pretty brutal winters around where I grew up, so the central heating in the school was just what was needed to feel at ease. The heating we had in our home was a furnace and although it made the home warm, it wasn’t perfect. But having a commercial heating system in the school that was a central heating system was something that I could only dream about having at home! So when I would get detention, little did the school know that they were giving me a treat and reward! They were giving me some extra time to relax and enjoy their commercial central heating system. They never caught on to this because I would never utter a word of it!
