When we had our new HVAC system installed, no one told us we had to use the HVAC company to do all the inspections and cleaning.
I knew we had to have our annual inspections completed, or it would void our warranty, but I thought I could do it on my own.
I was an HVAC technician before I retired, and I knew what I was doing. I didn’t think I had to be affiliated with an HVAC company to do the job. When I had a problem with the furnace, I called the HVAC company. The HVAC technician told me he would come to the house, and try to get the system running again, but he had to check my warranty. I told him all the cleanings and inspections had been done, but he said it didn’t matter. When he came to the house, he showed me what was wrong with the HVAC system. He knew I was an Hvac technician because we used to work together. He said the people who issued the warranties were very serious about the HVAC system being serviced by the HvAC company that did the installation. They voided warranties for lesser things than what I did. I didn’t want to know who held the warranties. All I wanted to know was how to repair the ductless HVAC system, and if I could make the repairs the next time. He said I could have made this one, if it hadn’t been for the warranty, which was still valid, because they hadn’t yet taken me off their list of emergency HVAC technicians.
