Having a getaway is often a dream many people have.
Some people are able to put that getaway dream into reality by taking a vacation every year, maybe twice a year, and maybe even more often.
Personally, though, I have had very few getaways in my life. That is why it was so exciting to get to have a small vacation not too long ago. I booked a little house on that electronic rental site, and I boarded a plane and went south of the border. In fact, that was the first time I had ever left the country. I went by myself because I did not have anyone else to go with, and that seemed like it would be a good idea. It was okay, but there were a few things that were not great about it. First, I discovered the little house had no air conditioning except for in the bedrooms. In the bedrooms, there were mini split air conditioners. This was the first time I had ever seen the mini split a/c option. Some people say it is just a glorified version of the window air conditioner, and in a way I guess that is true. But I did like them. I got to run the a/c when I was trying to sleep, and that helped me sleep pretty well. ON the bad side, though, the rest of the house did not have a/c. When I was booking the site, I just assumed it would have heating and cooling. It never occurred to me that there would ever be a place without it. That just goes to show you how spoiled we are in this country.
