My dad has had the same old AC unit in the living room for the past 10 or 15 years.
The machine is large, bulky, and heavy. My dad can’t even pick up the machine alone anymore. He always waits till I am there and then he asks me to help. I certainly don’t mind helping my dad take the AC into the living room, but I think it’s time for my dad to admit that the window AC is no longer a good option in the home. I have some friends that installed a mini split ductless system and I absolutely think it would be perfect for my dad as well. The mini split ductless AC unit is a simple air conditioner that is easy to install and does not cost a fortune. The mini split ductless AC does not require ductwork or a lot of installation services. My dad was interested in the machine until he heard the price tag. He did not think there was any reason to pay thousands of dollars to replace a machine that was already working. I tried to talk to my dad but he was convinced to beyond reasonable. At some point my dad is going to need to make some changes in his life, because he isn’t getting any younger. He already does too much physically during the day. I’m worried that I will come to his home and find him on the floor. I’m not ready to say goodbye to my dad, so I really wish he would take better care of himself.
