I could not even wait to get inside and see the house, then the old gentleman showed me to the furnace room, and I was taken aback.
I noticed that everyone was avoiding the task order that had just come in, then I hadn’t worked for the heating plus A/C supplier honestly long, and I didn’t want to take the task order if an older heating plus A/C worker wanted it. I waited for almost two hours before asking the dispatcher if he had someone special in mind for the task order! She looked me up and down, and then he chuckled. She asked if I was still sure I wanted the task order, and he also asked how tall I was. I told him I was 6’4”, however I could not figure out what that had to do with anything. She gave me directions to the home and told me they needed to have their furnace maintained, however when I got to the house, it was nothing more than a bungalow that my Grandparents used to live in. The ceiling in the basement could not have been much more than several feet high. I now knew why the dispatcher asked how tall I was and why he chuckled. The owner of the home said he had been a long time heating plus A/C customer, and he could not figure out why he didn’t get the same heating plus A/C worker twice in a row. The two of us finally laughed when I told him I could figure it out, then he chuckled and told me that all I had to do was a repair call and he would request a short heating plus A/C worker the next time he needed help, however although my back was never going to be the same, I was cheerful I got to finally meet the old couple.
