Mildew in the ductwork

There was this awful moldy mildew smell coming from our HVAC ducts for quite some time. It was especially noticeable in the summer months when I was using the a/c device almost nonstop. I do my best to keep our household perfectly clean & I have guests over frequently, so this smell was frustrating & embarrassing to say the least. I mean, no matter how clean you keep your house, mildew smell condemns it as dirty in my opinion, who needs that? When I could not take the smell any longer, I decided to call out a Heating & Air Conditioning device service lady. The smell was coming from the HVAC ducts, so I thought that perhaps there was something going on with our Heating & Air Conditioning device. The Heating & Air Conditioning repairman abruptly determined that there wasn’t anything wrong with the Heating & Air Conditioning device itself, however, she had come across this mildew smell before in similar circumstances in other households. The mildew smell was originating from water damage. The Summer time coincides with an intense rainy season around this area & there were leaks in the attic that were causing water to find its way into the HVAC ducts, allowing mildew to thrive. I ended up needing to service these holes to prevent water from getting into the household & into the Heating & Air Conditioning device. I also ended up having the Heating & Air Conditioning supplier do a thorough cleaning of the HVAC ducts to get rid of the water & mildew that had already accumulated in there. Before long, we were able to get rid of the mildew smell entirely, & I was back to entertaining guests in a respectable household with a fresh scent!
