For fireplaces, it all depends on the climate in your city or state. If you have a colder climate, an electric or gas fireplace may not be the right selection for you to heat your home. You may want to look into space heaters if you are looking to save energy. Also, if you have a little more money and either wood or tile flooring in your home, you could go for the radiant heated floors option. I recently went for radiant heated floors in my home, and I can tell you they are nothing short of amazing! The warmth in my home has been much better than my old central heating system. It even beats the heating coming from an old furnace/heater. For air conditioning, I have my central air conditioning system. I had tried using ductless mini split air conditioning systems. However, for the home I live in, the ductless mini split was not doing the job very well. So as you see, there are many HVAC options for you to choose from these days.
