Making a wasted space something special with ductless HVAC

When all of us were inside the central air conditioning of our house, I felt that there just wasn’t enough house.

And that’s something I had not ever felt prior.

But when the pandemic hit, my entire immediate family was holed up inside the same air conditioning. My wife and I were trying to work remotely since the zone controlled HVAC of the offices were closed. Two of our kids were doing highschool from home and the other two had to come home from college to do online classes. It was a full house for sure. And I felt sort of like I needed some room to breathe. That’s was first got me started with getting out of the HVAC cooling that summer and out for walks. I felt like the walls were closing in on me a bit with the house being so full. Doesn’t mean that I wasn’t to have all my chickens back in the nest. It’s just that I needed some space for me as well. So that’s what initiated me taking over the attic as mine. When we bought this house, we were surprised to find that the attic was finished. Like it had sheetrock walls, electricity and a plywood floor. That’s where I had the HVAC professionals install a ductless heat pump. This gave me the much needed heating and cooling element for me to be comfortable up there. Yet, I had to assemble a futon couch and a chair up there because I couldn’t get furniture through the opening otherwise.
