For the past five weeks, I have been working with our dad at the Heating, Ventilation and A/C service business. My dad has been the owner and operator of the HV AC service corporation since I was 5 years old. I graduated from high college in June and I started working with our dad. Most of our friends are already off to college and I barely have a work. I spend a lot of time working in the shop cleaning the trucks, floors, and stocking supplies. My dad wants myself and others to learn more about the Heating, Ventilation and A/C service business. I did not want to go to a technical college, so he put myself and others to labor at the shop… For the past five weeks, I have been observing the specialists while they work. I spend 3 days a month riding around with our dad and I spend 2 days each month working inside of the service shop. I idea to become a certified Heating, Ventilation and A/C service person 1 day so I will not have to spend our future cleaning up the shop. My dad insists that the fastest and easiest way to learn everything is to attend technical college. I just finished high college and I am not interested in going back to college, even if it is night classes. I would rather labor at the shop and learn at a slower pace. Maybe I will change our mind in a couple of weeks, however right now I just want free time and days to relax and hang out at the beach. I’m not ready to commit to a full time schedule again.
