For the past 5 weeks, I have been laboring with our Mom at the Heating and Air Conditioning repair business. My Mom has been the owner and operator of the HV A/C repair company since I was 5 years old. I graduated from high college in June and I started laboring with our Mom. Most of our friends are already off to college and I barely have a job. I spend a lot of time laboring in the shop cleaning the trucks, floors, and stocking supplies. My Mom wants myself and others to learn more about the Heating and Air Conditioning repair business. I didn’t want to go to a technical college, so he put myself and others to work at the shop. For the past 5 weeks, I have been observing the servicemans while they work. I spend 3 afternoons a month riding around with our Mom and I spend various afternoons each month laboring inside of the repair shop. I plan to become a certified Heating and Air Conditioning repair man one day so I won’t have to spend our future cleaning up the shop. My Mom insists that the fastest and easiest way to learn everything is to attend technical college. I just finished high college and I am not interested in going back to college, even if it is night classes. I would rather work at the shop and learn at a slower pace. Maybe I will change our mind in a couple of weeks, but right now I just want free time and afternoons to relax and hang out at the beach. I’m not ready to commit to a full time schedule again.
