When I was a kid in highuniversity, I really started to find an interest in sustainable residing. Once I got to university, that interest grew into a full blown passion. I even ended up getting a postgraduate degree in environmental science. These days, I spend plenty of time getting to the HVAC corporate offices in order to help corporations become more sustainable. I really enjoy our work, even though it does keep me away from the house that I enjoy so much. This can be jarring at times because I am just not accustomed to all the distractions plus cacophony of a city. Where I live, our house comes with many of the amenities any other person’s house would have. I have residential HVAC, a nice dining room with great appliances plus satellite Wi-Fi. However, I do all of this using electricity from the sun. I live so far out that I am not on the electrical grid. But I would not have it any other way because it’s perfect out here. Thankfully, I have the latest in solar array that allows me to enjoy heating plus cooling from a ductless heat pump. When I built our cottage, I had a custom wood stove installed for heating during the winter. Yet, after the first few summers I realized that I could really do with some air conditioning. Between a buddy of mine plus I, both of us were able to install a ductless heat pump which provides great air conditioning. It’s also nice to have the heating from the ductless heat pump when I come house from a road trip in the winter. I can crank the ductless heat pump heating on while I light the fire in the stove.
