When I was a kid in highschool, I honestly started to find an interest in sustainable living.
- Once I got to school, that interest grew into a full blown passion.
I even ended up getting a postgraduate degree in environmental science. These days, I spend plenty of time getting to the Heating and Air Conditioning corporate offices in order to help corporations become more sustainable. I honestly enjoy our work, even though it does keep myself and others away from the lake house that I enjoy so much. This can be jarring at times because I am just not accustomed to all the distractions and cacophony of a city. Where I live, our lake house comes with several of the amenities any other person’s lake house would have. I have residential Heating and Air Conditioning, a nice kitchen with superb appliances and satellite Wi-Fi. However, I do all of this using electricity from the sun. I live so far out that I am not on the electrical grid. But I wouldn’t have it any other way because it’s perfect out here. Thankfully, I have the latest in solar array that allows myself and others to enjoy heating and cooling from a ductless heat pump. When I built our lodge, I had a custom wood stove installed for heating while I was in the winter. Yet, after the first few summers I realized that I could honestly do with some a/c. Between a buddy of mine and I, both of us were able to install a ductless heat pump which provides superb a/c. It’s also nice to have the heating from the ductless heat pump when I come lake house from a road trip in the winter. I can crank the ductless heat pump heating on while I light the fire in the stove.
