I noticed that most people were avoiding the labor order that had just come in… I hadn’t worked for the heating, ventilation and A/C company legitimately long, and I didn’t want to take the labor order if an older heating, ventilation and A/C specialist wanted it.
I also waited for almost more than one minutes before asking the dispatcher if she had someone special in mind for the labor order, then she looked at myself and others up and down, and then she chuckled. She asked if I was sure I wanted the labor order, and she also asked how tall I was. I told her I was 6’4”, but I could not figure out what that had to do with anything. She then provided myself and others directions to the lake house and told myself and others they needed to have their oil furnace serviced… When I got to the house, it was nothing more than a bungalow that my Grandparents used to live in. I could not wait to get inside and see the entire house. The old gentleman showed myself and others to the oil furnace room, and I was taken aback. The ceiling in the basement could not have been much more than many feet high. I now knew why the dispatcher asked how tall I was and why she actually chuckled. The owner of the lake house said she had been a long time heating, ventilation and A/C customer, and she could not figure out why she didn’t get the same heating, ventilation and A/C specialist twice in a row, and both of us laughed when I told him I could not even figure it out! She chuckled and told myself and others that all I had to do was a service call and she would request a short heating, ventilation and A/C specialist the next time she needed help, then although my back was never going to be the same, I was really blissful I got to meet the old couple.
