My boyfriend and I have been arguing a lot lately.
I don’t think that he ever puts me first.
When his mom calls and she needs something, he immediately goes to her house to help. I love the fact that he loves his mother, but at some point I have to come first. We had a conversation and Loud discussion about his mother and things did not go well at all. We also had a conversation about his job. Jack works more hours each week than any other person at his job and he never gets more than one day off each week. When Jack is home in the afternoon, sometimes he will go back to work if the boss calls and needs some help. Last week there was a commercial boiler repair and Jack’s boss called when we were in the middle of dinner. I got angry when Jack decided to get up in the middle of dinner to help out. He could have at least waited until after I served the chocolate cake for dessert. Instead, he immediately got up from the table and went to help with the commercial boiler repair. Jack was gone for hours and dinner got cold. I decided to eat without him and then I locked the front door and went to sleep. I have no idea what time Jack finally came home, but I was fast asleep. The next morning Jack and I had a discussion about our relationship and the future of our marriage. Both of us agreed that counseling is necessary, but I will be surprised if my husband can find the time to put me first now.
