I don’t like going from the heat to the bitter cold

If you ask anyone who happens to live in the Northeast you will discover that the serious temperature swings can be difficult to live with.

I care about it when I am having a trip somewhere and the temperatures are in the 60s because people are dressed pretty much like it is Winter time and I am in shorts.

They often remark that I must be used to the extreme cold but they have no clue what the people I was with and I deal with up north. All of us do have extremely cold Winters that seem to last forever. The people I was with and I also have stifling sizzling summers. The temperature in our hometown can reach well into the 90s with brutal humidity and that can be difficult to live with also… During the Winter time when the temperatures are well below zero at least the people I was with and I have excellent Heating as well as Air Conditioning appliances to keep our homes moderate throughout that time. For me, the most challenging thing is leaving a perfectly warmed section and going to another. My car is parked outside so I am forced to leave our comfortable dwelling and head out to scrape the snow and ice off of it before I can go somewhere. The first thing I do is open the driver’s door and start the engine so that the heating appliance can start warming up the inside of the car. There are afternoons where just a few moments outside can make your face feel sort of like it’s going to freeze and I try to spend as little time as possible out in the elements. I run from our heated dwelling, to our heated car, and into the heated office. It never fails that the blast of frigid air in between can be downright painful. People in the South have no idea about what it feels like to absolutely go from the heat out into that freezing weather.
