I didn't want to work for my girlfriend’s Dad

He wanted me to come down to the construction office to interview for a position with the HVAC contractors.

One thing that I found intriguing about my girlfriend was the fact that she knows about household repairs. She doesn’t mind getting her hands dirty. She can change a tire and add oil to the car. She also knows her way around plumbing, electrical, and AC repairs. One of the biggest reasons is due to the fact that her father is a contractor. The guy has been flipping houses and working in the construction industry for 35 years. He taught my girlfriend everything she knows. Sometimes I feel a little envious when she can figure out a solution to a problem faster than me. Last month when I lost my job working at the commercial HVAC installation business, my girlfriend offered to get me a job working for her Dad. I didn’t want to work for my girlfriend’s father. I thought that was a bad idea and I urged my girlfriend not to mention anything about my job loss to her family. She didn’t listen and the very next day she said something to her mom on the phone. The next day I got a call from Jack, my girlfriend’s Dad. He wanted me to come down to the construction office to interview for a position with the HVAC contractors. I told Jack that I appreciated the offer, but I wanted to find something on my own. He respected my decision, but urged me to reconsider. The job was a great offer with a good salary and benefits, but I didn’t want to mix business with pleasure. It seemed like a really bad idea.
