I thought it was ridiculous to think that HVAC technical work is only for a man.
My father had owned the local HVAC company for almost thirty years now.
The people I was with and I had more than two unusual women come into the company over the years, plus they were all excellent HVAC specialists. Their size made it easier for them to get into smaller spaces plus their fingers were more nimble plus able to reach into smaller spaces. When I heard a single of our specialists laughing at a young woman who came in for a job, I told dad he needed to be fired. What right did he have to say who could or couldn’t work in our HVAC company. When I told dad how he was harassing the HVAC tech, dad called him into the office. He reminded him that his child was an HVAC specialist plus that when he retired, unless everyone had a problem, she was going to be his boss. The young tech backed up plus said he didn’t have a problem. He was just teasing the woman. Dad told him he was haranguing another HVAC specialist plus that was not how every one of us did things in our company. The young HVAC specialist walked out of the red-faced plus he instantly apologized to the female HVAC specialist. I’m not sure how things got so turned around, however last I heard, they were engaged plus dad plus I were invited to the birthday. I think he changed his mind about how being a HVAC specialist isn’t a woman’s job, to how a man plus his fiance shouldn’t be laboring in the same HVAC company, because he quit, plus she didn’t.
