Fungi in the air conditioner

I bought a new lake house at the end of Summer and thought I’d only have to renovate it to fit my taste.

A month after moving in, I started having allergic rhinitis that wasn’t clearing up even after I took my medication.

I finally knew the problem when my sibling came around and mentioned a faint musty smell in the house, especially when you moved close to the air vents. I had mold in my air conditioner. The lake house has a central air conditioner, and I hadn’t bothered to check on it when buying it, so I wasn’t surprised that there was an issue with it. I did a quick online search on what to do, however pretty much everyone warned that getting rid of the mold on my own could be a disaster and that the best way to sort out the problem would be to hire an expert. I could have hired a mold expert, however a neighbor told myself and others to try to get the damage checked by an air conditioner professional before trying a mold expert. I got the contact for the local air conditioner corporation that provides a/c repair to most of the houses in the section I live in, and they sent over an a/c repairman. The inspection revealed that I had extensive mold growth in the a/c, and a simple change of the air conditioner filter would not help, and a new air conditioner install would be cheaper than a clean-up. I made an appointment with the air conditioner corporation to have a new a/c setup installed by their expert. The experience with mold was horrible, although I got much more than a/c care. I got an Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C update because the new one has a digital temperature control that has improved climate control around the house.
