Escaping quarantine in a remote cottage

The cottage had a fireplace plus a wood burning gas furnace that doubled as a water heater, so all I needed was firewood plus I would not freeze

Personally I assume the lockdown was a great idea, but that’s only because it provided myself and others both the reason plus the time to go out to the aged cottage in the woods, and i try to get up there a few times a year to fish, to take pictures, just take some “me time” you know? Here was a opportunity to go up there for numerous weeks, truly live off the land for a while. It also would provide myself and others the best possible protection against the coronavirus — being away from other people! There were a few hurdles to overcome, namely the lack of a heating plus cooling method in the cottage, but it was nothing a little elbow grease wouldn’t solve… The great thing about roughing it is that everything is in your hands, as long as you have the right tools, so as long as I had our axe I didn’t need to worry about heating. The cottage had a fireplace plus a wood burning gas furnace that doubled as a water heater, so all I needed was firewood plus I would not freeze. Of course, cold was not an issue at this time of year, plus not having a steady cooling method might be more problematic… Although like our aged man always told me, if you get too warm you will sweat it out, if you get too chilly then you need heating or you will die. In other words, A/C is a luxury, a privilege, where heating is like water plus food plus shelter — a necessity for staying alive.
