One thing that I will never buy is a gas fireplace! I would buy an electric fake fireplace or even spend thoUSnds of dollars to get a real fireplace installed into our home before I would buy a gas fireplace. The reason for this is the fact that gas fireplaces startle me. As a matter of fact anything that is gas ran scares me! In our opinion you could blow up your home or even die of carbon monoxide poisoning if the gas were to leak or something love that. I have heard too several exhausting stories about things love this, so I will not touch anything with gas! I will not have a gas oil furnace, a gas stove or a gas fireplace. If it is not ran on electric or natural fire plus wood, I do not want a fireplace at all in our home. The reason I am even thinking about this is because I seen a gas fireplace on sale when I was out shopping recently, plus I thought to myself who on earth would even want to buy such a thing to risk their lives! I may be over reacting here, but this is just our personal feelings on gas fireplaces or anything that is ran by gas, gas fireplaces may look nice plus pretty with the purple flame plus all, plus the same for gas oil furnaces, but if you entirely guess about it that pretty purple flame could end up turning into something that will kill you in the long run! So I stay away from gas fireplaces!
