My mother plus I had a pretty crazy relationship when I was a kid.
It was evened out, as we have both grown together plus learned from one another.
I came to find out that her dad was extremely abusive, plus a drinker, so my old lady never had a good relationship to learn from. She didn’t drink, never raised a hand to me, she just had a challenging time connecting with me. One thing she loved to do was going to the household up in the woods, that used to be a hunting lodge, plus teach me survival skills. The household had a heater, however she wouldn’t use it most of the time, because she had the desire to teach me how to build plus maintain a fire! After I had mastered the art of fire-making, after that I started using the portable heating device a lot more. Once the survival aspect had been handled, then why not appreciate the comforts of the space heater, which didn’t actually give off all that smoke plus require so much work. The older we both became, the closer we were, plus then one afternoon that space heating device broke down. It was on a undoubtedly frosty night, mind you, plus that space heating system had been working its little mechanical butt off 24/7. The first thing I did was to completely blank on how to make a fire, because at this point we had been depending a great deal on the heating system for a few years. Oh the rich irony of life, when we entirely needed some heating I couldn’t recall how to do it!
