There is just nothing worse than being awakened in the middle of the night.

My heart is beating like crazy and I’m completely disoriented while scrambling to figure out what is going on.

I have made it clear to all those who I call friends and family. Don’t be calling me after 10pm unless there is a legitimate emergency taking place. I’ve had to drop the hammer on my kids as well. Don’t be waking Daddy with every little bump in the night. So, I was blasted out of bed last night by a very serious bump in the night. My furnace was shutting down with an awful thud which nearly shook the house. Nobody in our house slept through it. I checked the furnace and it was definitely in need of some urgent help. I dialed the emergency line for the heating and cooling professionals we deal with. It was freezing cold so there was no waiting until the morning. In fact, by the time the HVAC tech got to us the house temperature was dipping into the high forties. Our certified heating and cooling man found the problem fairly quickly. A valve switch had burned out but lucky for us, the furnace shut down before it caused severe damage. The HVAC tech was able to replace the part and get the furnace up and running within an hour of his arrival. The house was warming and I was happy to get back in bed. Then he gave me the bill. Yet, another reason there is nothing good happening after midnight.
