When I first moved there was a stray cat that liked to hang around my car.
She would hop up on top of the car and nap for hours.
I abruptly realized she liked the heat of my vehicle. If I left, drove around and came home, she was quick to get on it. The warmth must have felt enjoyable on her body. My section doesn’t get snow, ice or freezing but it does get cold. Turns out a cat is enjoyable outside as long as it is above freezing. It was pretty close temperature wise and I felt awful for the cat. I started making friends with him and petted him. Then we progressed to a food and water bowl outside. I then got him to pop in the house for a bit to eat and leave! Our relationship has moved to the point that she has a cat bed, water and food dish, flea collar, toys and treats. She basically is an indoor cat now too. She prefers being inside with the quality heating system. She has her own bed but prefers to sleep on mine and puts her head against my pillow. She absolutely is directly underneath a heating vent when she does that. I noticed that she now refuses to go outside if it is raining or even sort of cold. Her tolerance for the chill has gone down or she just honestly prefers teh heating and sees no reason to leave. I wonder if in the summer time she will want to venture outdoors or will she hole up inside and appreciate the AC?
