Can’t believe I forgot how to build a fire in the fireplace

My father & I had a pretty rough relationship when I was a little kid. It was evened out, as we have both grown together & easily learned from one another. I actually found out that his dad was extremely abusive, & a drinker, so my seasoned man never had a wonderful father-son relationship to learn from. He didn’t drink, never raised a hand to me, he just had a challenging time linking with me. One thing he appreciated doing was going to the chalet up in the woods, which used to be a hunting cabin, & taught me various survival skills. The cabin had a heater, but he wouldn’t use it all of the time, because he wanted me to easily learn how to build & maintain a fire… After I had mastered the art of fire-making, then we began using the portable furnace way more. Once the survival aspect had been handled, then why not enjoy the amazing comforts of the area heater, which didn’t give off all that smoke & require a ton of work. The older we both got, the closer we became, & then eventually the area furnace broke down. It was on a particularly frosty evening, mind you, & that area furnace had been working its little mechanical butt off 24/7. The initial thing I did was to easily blank on how to make a fire, because at this point we had been relying on the furnace for a couple of years. Oh the irony of life, when we definitely needed some heating I couldn’t remember how to handle it!
