Wintering in the mountains and a delightful form of heating

Last winter, I decided to take a holiday way up north.

I lived in a winter lodge and everything.

I had experienced the snow very few times in my life before that point, much less temperatures well below freezing. It took some getting used to, but I eventually acclimated. I was spending an entire week up there after all. Once I knew how warm I would need to dress, things got easier. I must say that the cabin that I stayed in was pretty warm and toasty. That certainly added to my enjoyment. I was truly interested in experiencing winter where it is most beautiful, after all: up in the mountains. Nature did not disappoint. It was quite lovely hiking up there, but by the end of my little trips, I was all too eager to get back to my cabin and the warmth it provided me. The floorboards were of sturdy wood and the heat seemed to be emanating from below them. This certainly made for much more even temperatures. On top of that, as cold as it was outside, I did not even have to wear socks or slippers if I did not want to. The floor was plenty warm; it was actually the warmest part of any given room in the cabin, which makes a whole lot of sense! The floor itself was so delightfully toasty, that sometimes I simply wanted to curl up with a blanket and a pillow down there instead of sleeping in an actual bed, though I never did this. Later on, I came to find out that this form of heating is called radiant heated floors.
