Wifi thermostat makes owning two homes much less stressful

It’s also helpful that I can regulate humidity levels, which works to prevent mold and mildew in the house down south

About three years ago, my husband and I purchased a small winter home down south. We were tired of being trapped in the house for six straight months, dependant on the furnace. We looked forward to escaping temperatures down to twenty below zero and non stop snow. Trying to keep up with two homes has been more difficult than we anticipated. We worry about a malfunction with the furnace and pipes freezing in the north, and problems with the air conditioner and mold growth down south. We don’t want to leave the heating system blasting all winter, maintaining perfect comfort in an empty house, and the same is true for the cooling system over the summer. Because we go back and forth between the homes so often, I don’t like to inconvenience family or friends by asking them to regularly check in. During a routine service of the furnace, I complained to the HVAC contractor that I was constantly stressed over potential breakdowns. He recommended the installation of a wifi thermostat in each of the homes. The thermostats provide access through an app on my smartphone, no matter where my husband and I happen to be. I can monitor the indoor temperature and easily make adjustments. Plus, I get notifications if there’s a power outage, severe fluctuation in temperature or a maintenance requirement. The thermostat further alerts our HVAC contractor, allowing remote diagnosis and minimizing problems. It’s also helpful that I can regulate humidity levels, which works to prevent mold and mildew in the house down south. The thermostat features sensors that know when we’re on our way home and automatically adjusts the heating or cooling to welcome us back to perfect comfort. The thermostats have been such a great investment, that we have now added security cameras that also link to an app on our phones.
