Trying to deal with the brutal summer heat

The peak of Summer in the South can be seriously sizzling.

For those who aren’t familiar, it can be a rather rude awakening.

I recall my first Summer here. It was stunning how hot it could get in this area. I had lived out west for a bit so had a clue of heat. But, nothing could have gotten me ready for the combination of high temps mixed with extremely high humidity. I was entirely bewildered at first. All I could do was turn the Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C appliance down lower plus lower. My first energy bill cured myself and others of doing that. It didn’t take myself and others too long to figure out that I needed to do more to help my Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C appliance cool my dwelling. My first step was to seal up the house. I filled each and every crack plus replaced all the weatherstripping I could find. Much of it had been messed up by the sun. I went online to purchase some heavy dark curtains to pull over my windows while I was away at work. I was shocked at how much just eliminating the direct sun heating did to cool things down in the place. So, for the windows which get direct sun all day, I installed some solar blocking film. This stuff did a great task of preventing heat. Lastly, I installed a smart control unit. It’s seriously the best. The thing has completely learned my patterns so it adjusts the temperature as needed. The temperature goes up while I’m away at work. Then, as I am headed back to my dwelling the control component begins cooling the place down. When I get to my dwelling, the place is nice plus cool. The Summer is still not an easy thing to deal with. But, at least my Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C appliance is finally working overtime plus the utility bill is not so terrible.
