Trying to adjust to the heat of the South

Then, as I am headed back to my property the temperature control begins cooling the property down

The peak of summer time in the South can be completely sizzling. For those who aren’t familiar, it can be very difficult to adjust. I remember my first summer time here. It was absolutely shocking how hot it could get down here. I had lived out west for a bit so had some idea of intense heat. But, nothing could have prepared me for the combination of high temps mixed with very high humidity. I was bewildered initially. All I could do was turn the Heating, Ventilation & A/C equipment down lower & lower. My first energy bill stopped me from doing that. It didn’t take me too long to figure out that I had to do more to help my Heating, Ventilation & A/C equipment cool my house. My first step was to seal up the property. I filled every crack & updated all the weatherstripping I could find. Much of it had been fully destroyed by the sun. I went online to purchase some heavy dark curtains to pull over my windows while I was not at home. I was surprised at how much just eliminating the direct sun heating did to cool things in my property. So, for the windows which get direct sun all day, I installed some solar blocking film. This stuff worked great to prevent the heat. Lastly, I installed a smart temperature control. It’s really nice to have. The thing has come to learn my patterns so it adjusts the temperature as I prefer. The temperature goes up while I’m not at my place. Then, as I am headed back to my property the temperature control begins cooling the property down. When I get back to my property, it is nice & cool. The summer time is still not entirely easy to deal with. But, at least my Heating, Ventilation & A/C equipment is now working overtime & the utility bill is not too bad.
