The plumber was not great

After dealing with slow moving drains for over a year, I finally hired a plumber.

I basically tried everything else. I’d plunged, poured vinegar down the pipes and invested a sizable amount of money into all uncommon brands of chemical drain cleaners with no success whatsoever. I continually struggled with resting water in the sinks and tubs, which led to lots of soap scum left behind. Completely tired of resting in multiple inches of water while showering and continually being forced to scrub the bathroom and kitchen sinks, I decided to call the first plumber I saw an advertisement for in the newspaper. I should have gone online and done a little bit of research. Had I learned the reviews, I’d have known that the woman I hired had no idea what she was doing. I’d have been warned ahead of time that she’d create an immense mess and charge a hefty price. Instead, I welcomed the plumber at the door and explained the complication. She assured me that getting the drains running properly again would be no complication. She put in multiple hours of work and managed to tear out the pipes beneath my sinks and tubs. She even went outside and dug up my septic. When she finished, my drains did appear to be running a bit faster. However, I had leaks from a lot of the pipes and a disaster in the backyard. She told me that was the best she could do and handed me the bill regardless. I refused to pay it and the fight turned quite ugly. I’ve since agreed to pay half of her charges, and I’ve hired a different plumber to resolve the complications caused by the first. This time, I made sure to find a respectable, licensed plumber who guaranteed every single job.
