The Amish build custom furniture

I live in close range to a big Amish community.

The Amish can make a wide range of products, including thick wool quilts, homemade jellies and jams.

They travel throughout the local area by carriage and build barns, homes and do remodeling services. There is also an Amish custom furniture store as well. I have ordered quite a few hand-crafted pieces from the shop, including tables, chairs, dressers, vanities and bed frames. The process is rather involved, because the Amish don’t have phones, computers or email. If I need to get in touch with them, it’s necessary to drive to the store and hope that they’re open and around the area. I often print off a picture of something similar to the item I wish for. I write down the precise measurements and explain both the function and look I’m hoping for. It can be rough at times, because the Amish aren’t overly familiar with modern things that I want. They have little experience with a vanity or an entertainment center. However, each item is built from scratch, starting with a raw piece of material. I’m able to ask for everything, from the type of wood to the size and style. The finished product is always of great quality. The cost of these carefully constructed pieces is far lower than an inferior product from a big box store. I have gorgeous tables and chairs in my home, that will unquestionably last throughout my own lifetime, and yet I paid around half the expected cost. The big downside of ordering a custom piece of furniture from the Amish is how long it takes though.
