As a musician that focuses on classical music, I often need to surround myself with silence to make sure I can play in peace.
If I’m trying to practice playing the cello in a loud practice space with other musicians, I might as well be playing for fun! In my own home, I have a quiet little room that is just perfect for music composition as well as practice.
In this room, I generally will play for numerous hours at a time, with the only other sound being my air conditioner component quietly whirring in the background, but recently though, I was getting into a entirely demanding piece, plus became drenched in sweat as I played through the song! I managed to finish the piece, but I observed upon completion that the practice room was easily silent, but not even the sound of my air conditioning system component could be heard! Between that plus my heavy dripping with sweat, I began to think that my air conditioner component might not be on. When I checked the control unit, my suspicions were confirmed. It was bad timing, too – all of us were entering a rough month of record highs, according to our local meteorologist. I needed to get this air conditioner component fixed pronto! Not only was I going to be miserably boiling otherwise, but I wouldn’t be in the right frame of mind for practice. I had a recital coming up that month too! So, I fortunately was able to get someone over to my home that same day. I paid for emergency repairs, but it was well worth it to have my air conditioner component restored!
