Taking a trip to a very different climate

I recently took a trip into the Northwest and up into the mountains for a teacher’s seminar.

I am not sure why it was being held in such a remote location, but I was very interested in going for the sake of learning.

I decided to fly there because it was a considerable distance from my hometown. I had rarely ever been at such a high altitude, and the small town that I would be visiting was almost 10,000 feet up! The seminar was going to be held at the beginning of the summer time, which was probably the best time because this place gets snow dumped on it for many months of the year! It was still a whole lot cooler and with a lower humidity than I had ever experienced. I am used to heat and humidity and needing to use an air conditioner all the time. Air conditioning was not needed at all in my hotel, though it was available. The highest it probably got the whole time I was there with 65 degrees. At night, it dipped into the high forties at times, so I definitely did not need air conditioning then. I did feel a bit strange from the high-altitude, but over the course of the time I was there, I eventually acclimated. Once I was used to to the heights, I have to say I almost wished I could live there. The weather was ultimately delightful, and there was practically no need for any form of climate control, which was a far cry from my normal life back home! Then, I remembered it was only because it was the summertime and it’s normally freezing cold up here!
