I had to laugh when I saw that episode because it was exactly like the story in the magazine
I used to love reading the Reader’s Digest. One of my favorite parts of the magazine was LIfe in These United States. They gave crazy little stories that people write in pertaining to actual happenings in their homes. There were short stories and anecdotes that always kept me laughing. Now, I watch television shows that are written and must have been based on stories from the Reader’s Digest. Last week, I watched one where the guy was trying to find out where the ‘ghost’ was coming from. Everyone in the boarding house was afraid to go near the basement. They said there was ghost down there. One kid actually said that he saw the ghost because it was in his room all the time. The older guy found a false door in the room and it led right down to the basement. Unfortunately, the door closed behind him when he got down in the basement and he was unable to turn around and he became trapped behind the furnace. This wasn’t too bad until the furnace turned. The young kid was there with him and he kept saying that maybe the heat would melt enough fat off the guy so he could squeeze from behind the furnace. I had to laugh when I saw that episode because it was exactly like the story in the magazine. I’m sure nothing like that, especially with the furnace turning on and the guy finally being able to get out, would actually happen. I hope the man this really happened to, didn’t see the episode and become embarrassed.
