Yesterday I had to take my son to the doctor for his regular checkup.

It just so happened to be one of the hottest days of the year, and the temperature was in the high eighties even before our ten o’clock appointment yesterday morning.

We had the air conditioning blasting in the car all the way to the doctor’s office. So when we got off the elevator and went inside the office I was surprised to feel how hot it was in the doctor’s office. It didn’t feel like they were even using the air conditioning in the office at all. I asked the receptionist what was going on with the indoor air quality in the waiting room, and she said that they had been having lots of trouble with their air conditioning system all week. The HVAC company was supposed to be coming to fix the A/C after lunch, but the doctor’s office was so hot while we were there that I thought I was going to get sick. I really felt bad for the nurses and receptionists that were working there, though. There are no windows at all, and so they weren’t even getting a breeze inside the office building. I couldn’t imagine having to stay in that hot, stuffy office building all day without any A/C when the outside temperatures were so hot. I was glad that my son’s appointment was fairly early in the morning and we didn’t have to stay there in the office very long without the air conditioning. I was really glad to get out of there and get back in the car so we could turn the cooling system in the car on full blast.
