No a/c on the graveyard shift

I work the night shift at a 24-hour convenience store.

We are not quite as busy while in this time compared to the day shift, however all of us still have a steady trickle of clients throughout the night, my first problem when taking up this task offer was safety, although I know all of us live in a town that has a low crime rate.

I do not know I would have taken this task in more dangerous towns. Because of the small amount of clients, the task is quite peaceful, if not a little boring. I often find myself doing a little bit of work here & there when I am not needed at the register, not because I am particularally interested in making the day shift people’s lives easier the next day, however because there has little else to do. A few afternoons ago, something quite upsetting had happened. The a/c unit entirely gave out while in the shift before mine. As you may have guessed, all of us were not able to call out an Heating & Air Conditioning company until the following day. This, of course meant that myself and others & the other person on the night shift would have to suffer with no a/c for the entire shift… Perhaps this would not have been so hard to do were it not the middle of June! The evenings high was 70 degrees & there was a lot of humidity! I never realized just how comfortable our a/c unit kept us while in the shift. That was pretty much the most miserable shift I’ve had at this task so far, & I was quite thankful when the a/c unit was repaired by our next evening shift!
