My wife recently purchased a smart thermostat for our home. It’s not that are old thermostat was not up to snuff, it works just fine, my wife just wanted to try something new. She read an article about smart thermostats on the internet that piqued her interest. She told me that smart thermostats are not just programmable, but that they will also eventually be able to predict the temperature that you would want to set at any given time, based on the time of day, the day of the week, and the temperature outside, among other factors. You just have to use the smart thermostat long enough for it to “learn” your own unique habits. I thought that sounded pretty interesting. The other thing she mentioned that we could both appreciate about smart thermostat is that they can be controlled from anywhere using a smart device. Besides the obvious ability to be able to control the thermostat from bed, instead of walking out into the hallway, there are other ways this can benefit us. What if there’s no one at home, and we leave for work without having shut off the air? We certainly would not want the air conditioning running in an empty house all day long, so we could simply shut it off from work using our smartphones. Some more my wife talked about all of the advantages to having a smart thermostat the more interested I became. Eventually, I agreed that purchasing one was a great idea and we have never looked back!
