My Tree Skirt Covered My Air Vent:

First, I noticed that there was no heat coming into my living room, but there was a lot of heat being pushed into the other rooms of the house

Every year, I get anxious to bust my holiday decorations out of the basement and go crazy! I’m one of those people who actually adore setting up a pretty tree and a ton of twinkling lights as soon as I can. I try and hold out as long as possible, but I think I decorate earlier and earlier each year. My holiday decor brings me joy, what else can I say? This year, I decided to purchase a new skirt for the bottom of my tree. I’d been using a cheap one that was several years old, so I thought it was time to invest in a new one. I found a really fluffy white one, and I happily set it out under the tree. My cat also seemed to really love it, because it was warm and cozy. When my cat was lying under the tree, I didn’t notice that she’d pushed the tree skirt around to make her own little nook. When she did this, she pushed the skirt over my air vent on the floor, which caused my furnace to react poorly. First, I noticed that there was no heat coming into my living room, but there was a lot of heat being pushed into the other rooms of the house. No matter how I set my thermostat, the heat wasn’t coming through my living area. This is when I found the air vent covered up by the tree skirt! I assumed my cat would push the skirt over the vent again, so I had to move my entire tree.
