My grandma likes to get all of my cousins together and tell us all of these stories about when she was a little girl.
I love to hear all of the crazy stories about when she was young.
Things were very different back then, and it’s so interesting to hear about the days when there was no TV, few telephones, no internet, and hardly any air conditioning systems at all. Did you know that back a long time ago, there was no such thing as air conditioning? My grandma told us once that she remembers the very first time she ever walked into a building that was cooled with air conditioning. She wasn’t sure what was happening. She said that it was a hot summer day and she had to go into the bank for her father. She said that as soon as she walked in the door of the bank, she got blasted with freezing cold air from one of the overhead air vents. Grandma said that she’d never felt anything like it in her entire life. She thought she was walking into a giant refrigerator or something. I guess buildings with A/C systems are so commonplace this day and age that I’ve never really thought that much about them. I can’t even imagine going into a building with air conditioning for the very first time. It must have been pretty surreal for my grandma to feel A/C blowing down on her head when she was a girl! I kind of wish I had lived back then when everything was simpler.
