My daughter did everything right

Every year, my husband and I take our vacation around our anniversary.

We have been doing this for years now.

At first, it was just the ability to use our anniversary as an excuse to get a couple days away from our kids. When you have at least five kids in the house all of the time, it can get hectic. Once our oldest daughter was able to take care of the kids for a couple days, we would leave her in charge. We knew that our parents were close enough for her to call and have assistance in minutes, if she needed. We always told her to not call us, since we would have our phones off. Unfortunately, the phones were turned off, since I would be worrying about what was happening. They usually called us at least once a day, and if they didn’t call, I worried even more. The one afternoon, we got home, and my daughter was crying. Her sister and two brothers, was at Grandma’s and she was upset. The furnace had gone out and she didn’t want the kids to be there if it was cold. She sent them to Grandma’s house, while she called the HVAC company. The HVAc company had a five hour waiting time, so she sat in the house, with no furnace running, and she was cold. She wrapped herself up in my warm coat and apologized that we had to get home to this mess. I had never been so proud of her as I was at that time.
