My dad is one of those people who is super hard to buy a gift for. Every year I try to think of something good to get him for the holidays and for his birthday, but I always struggle. He is one of those guys who sees something that he wants and usually he just goes right out and gets it. So the key to buying something for him is finding something that he would like that he doesn’t know that he wants! This year, I just happened to hear an HVAC commercial on the radio about something called a smart thermostat. The HVAC company here in town was offering a big discount on the purchase and installation of a smart thermostat system. I happened to know that my dad needed a new thermostat, and he just hadn’t gotten around to replacing his old one quite yet. Well, I sprang into action and went to the HVAC company to purchase a thermostat unit that very day. Then I scheduled the HVAC technician to come out and do the installation for my dad on his birthday. He was so surprised to see the shiny new digital smart thermostat on the wall in place of his old one. I’m really hoping that the new smart thermostat will help him to save lots of money on his heating and cooling bills throughout the year. That way the thermostat will be the gift that keeps on giving! I know that my dad would be very happy with something like that. I think I did great on his gift this year!
