Leaky AC was a simple repair

For a long time I just dealt with the fact my AC system leaked.

Constantly there was a puddle of water around my air conditioner.

When it operated, the water leaked over the sides of it. Due to this, the AC was rusty and did not run well. Changing the air filter, coolant or cleaning the fan blades did not do anything. For a while I just took it as the norm. When my boyfriend saw the water around the AC, staining the carpet, and became disgusted by it, I knew it was time to tackle the water issue. Thankfully I decided to try my luck out researching first. The answer to my issue immediately came up. Apparently there is a part in the cooling system called the condensate drain. The drain can frequently clog up due to algae. Once the algae blocks the drain, water leaks out of the AC system. I opened up the cooling system and found the problem right away. I cleaned and cleared away the debris in the drain. I also cleaned the cooling coil which had significant mold on it. My whole cooling system got a cleaning makeover. Once I turned it on after the cleaning, it ran so much better! I did not realize how inferior my cooling system was until it got cleaned. I could easily cool my home and the house no longer smelled weird. I should not have let the water leak out of the cooling system for that long. I could have saved my rug from the stain and stopped rust from forming on the AC.
