It’s tough when you’re on vacation and the A/C doesn’t work

Last week we went on vacation and we had rented a nice little cabin up in the mountains.

Usually when you think about vacationing in the mountains, you don’t really think about warm weather.

Well, at least we didn’t. It turned out to be a freak heat wave on the weekend that we were there. The weather started heating up and by the time Saturday morning rolled around, the temperature was well up into the nineties! We were glad that the weather was nice and sunny, but of course we weren’t thrilled about the soaring temperatures. We had expected to have a nice week of vacation with cooler temperatures. We even hoped that we would be able to build a fire in the wood burning fireplace a couple of times while we were there. Of course, with the change in temperature, we weren’t able to use the wood burning fireplace at all. Instead, we ended up having to turn on the air conditioning instead. Unfortunately for us, when we turned the thermostat on, nothing really happened. I mean, there was an initial whooshing sound from the air vents but then that was it. The A/C never really started cooling the house down. When we called the rental company for the cabin, they informed us that the place didn’t even have air conditioning! They said that the temperatures around there hardly ever got warm enough to need A/C so it wasn’t even hooked up. I couldn’t believe it. It’s really tough to be on vacation and relax when you need air conditioning and your cabin doesn’t even have it.
